Supplements We Like: Longvida Curcumin

Longvida by Verdure Sciences is an award-winning curcumin supplement made by Neuroscientists at UCLA.  Why do we like it?  Curcumin is the wonder chemical found in turmeric that exerts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer actives.  The problem is that taken orally, it is poorly absorbed and so not much gets into the body. Longvida is highly absorbable (bioavailable) AND crosses the blood-brain barrier.  This means that it gets to the brain, where all other curcumin products cannot.  So Longvida curcumin can have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects on the brain.

Indeed, one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology in 2015 shows that Longvida improves cognitive function and mood by taking 2 grams per day.[1]

Another randomized control trial published in Aging in 2017 showed Longvida supplementation over 12 weeks improved resistance artery endothelial function by increasing vascular nitric oxide bioavailability and reducing oxidative stress.[2]

The best place to buy this is on Amazon through ProHealth for $59.  They occasionally offer an Amazon subscription that lowers it to $50.
